A will-we-or-won't-we quality prefaced this late night fourtet...even as sleep beckoned, there was mutual agreement/benefit to have the music do its thing. And the duo beforehand: a testament to exploration without reliance on rote or conditioning. It was gratifying for Sahada Buckley and I to connect with old friend/jump-cut genius Scott Bazar and new friend/encyclopedic drummer-composer Charles Pagano. Their own set as Plutonian Burrito (not heard here but please check them out) was a masterclass in restraint, surprise, invention, virtuosity, and fun- with gorgeous visuals, described by Charles as Andy Griffith meets Space Invaders. Let it go, as the icy favorite implores. I love the music here, a reminder of what is good and honest and necessary in the world, presented with the kind energy of our friends. Thanks as always for listening.
