I love when projects come together organically. The brilliant musician and programmer Adam Wilson called me a few days prior to say he'd be in the area and wanted to get together for a visit. My imagination sprung into gear immediately, suggesting a recording session too. We had a relaxed supper (thanks to my family), and then got to work on a very rainy early summer night. Our interests overlap and intersect in many overt and subtle ways, the most obvious being our affinity for fretless guitar. I've poked around on the web and can't find any examples of a fretless guitar duo. That is, when two people are simultaneously each playing fretless guitar (not fretless bass nor microtonal fretting nor overdubs, all of which are wonderful, but two guitars). So is this a world premiere? Unlikely, but it was completely novel for us, slipping and sliding in togetherness with immediate rapport, with intuitive comfort. There's something very grounded about these sounds, even with so much note density. What's great is letting our ears and hearts be the guide, rather than the imposition of little metal tangs bumping us into specificity. There's some very exciting (to me!) rhythm exchange and a surprising amount of "tonality" amidst the pan-everything happening. And even some lovely serendipity about the title and cover art. Oh, and there's one other musical partner present, perhaps making this a trio. Skronkbot: an exceptional listener, rapid learner, and a new friend. Please enjoy, and thanks for listening.

One of my favorite albums ever! It beautifully captures the sound and spirit of where we live. I was honored to be the engineer for the session, and it is a highlight in my history as a record mogul. Killick
