The title of this album arose from a conversation Lydian and I had about words and how our relationship to them has changed over time. I suppose for me the question is what comes after spoken and written words. Is there a way to convey the complexity of experiencing the world through our individual prisms which doesn't rely on specific utterances but encompasses the overt, the semiotic, the playful and the heartfelt? Music as an expressive language comes close for me and the striving for that clarity of connection keeps me motivated. The boundless creativity and grounded soundworld of Lydian Brambila made this project effortless and an immersive joy. Their cello soars and sings while creating new vocabularies both personal and universal. Lydian came up with the song titles which perfectly address the ineffable. The cover image by Delene Porter brings the energy full circle...evocative and infinite. Thanks as always for listening.
