Even from her current dispatch of England, our good friend Monique is still a centerpiece of the Athens music scene. Sahada, Jesse, and I were delighted to work with her boundless imagination by printed proxy to bring this music to life. The album begins with a literal composite of the following three takes: me solo, Sahada solo, then me/Sahada in a duet. I love how the music functions in toto, and then how the component elements are also complete mini-suites. Jesse brought his usual stellar attention to the project, capturing every nuance of these performances, a few moments of which are at the edge of audibility. (This feat remarkably achieved without eq, compression, or limiting...just the raw sound with consummate mic selection and placement, along with my direct signal.) Sahada shines as per always with true virtuosity and idiosyncratic comprehensive playfulness. Sharing a duo with her is so easy and intuitive, even in this newly-charted uncharted venture. And of course, all this is possible because of Monique's dedication to furthering her repertoire in wherever the muse leads. This was fun, challenging, and rewards repeated listens. The extraneous is the focus here. Thanks for listening. Enjoy.

One of my favorite albums ever! It beautifully captures the sound and spirit of where we live. I was honored to be the engineer for the session, and it is a highlight in my history as a record mogul. Killick
